Brief update

The past two weeks have been a lot more busy than intended. I haven’t been able to blog but I’ve been making progress with the goals.

For the first Shabbat in non-anglo communities, I decided to go to my relatives just outside of Jerusalem in Kfar Etzyon in Gush Etzyon. Since making aliyah I go there every few months. The husband and wife are both children of founders of the original communities in the Gush and both they’re fathers fell in the battle for the Gush during the Independence War in 1948.

They have three children, two sons and a daughter. The daughter is the oldest and is married with three kids, including a six-month old baby girl. Prior to last week, I hadn’t seen her or her family in at least two years. The oldest son is an engineer and a year or two older than me. The youngest, is in his early twenties and is serving in the IDF. I hadn’t seen him probably in almost a year. It was a really nice Shabbat and I got to practice my Hebrew.

Before going to the Gush, which takes over two hours and half hours from Tel Aviv and three buses, I decided to go into Jerusalem that Thursday night to see A and Y before they left and to see my former roommate from last year and her husband and stay over by them. After meeting up with A and Y for dinner by the Tachana Merkazit (Central Bus Station), I went to the Kotel which was crowded and then to my former roommate’s apartment.

For those keeping tally at home, I still have to go on a hike for this month.
